     10:00 am - 2:00 pm

This course is designed to educate administrators and customer service officers working with financial planners or aged care professionals. This is a foundation course designed to arm support staff with an appropriate level of knowledge and understanding about social security payments and aged care means assessment. Please note this is not as comprehensive or detailed as those workshops that are a part of the Retirement living and Aged Care Specialist Designation.

Attendees will gain an understanding in the Age Pension and Social Security framework in Australia, its assessment process, both asset test and income test, how the Age Pension is calculated, what is an exempt asset, how much can someone gift, exempt and work bonus. In addition, we will cover the types of aged care in the community and residential aged care, the differences between a supported and market payer and associated costs.

The workshop is delivered online via Microsoft Teams, with class discussions and case studies. A workshop booklet and all necessary material will be provided.
